2023 Queen of the Chesapeake

Hailey Tate - Maryland Yacht Club

Hello officers and members of the yacht club community.

My name is Hailey Tate and I have the honor of representing the yacht club community as 76^th Queen of the Chesapeake.

            I am in my senior year of high school at Chesterton Academy of Annapolis. Throughout high school, my electives include sculpture and pottery II, where my art has been displayed at my school. I enjoy art very much because I find it to be relaxing and a good way for me to express myself. Over the past three years I have been a part of robotics, photography, health, and wellness club, art club, knitting and crochet club. My school has also hosted a blood drive where I donated blood for the first time. I also have been a part of Track and Field through my school in my sophomore year. Due to my steady 3.0 GPA, I have been selected to be a part of the National Society of High School Scholars. I have been awarded honor roll and efforts honors throughout my academic career.

            Outside of school, I have volunteered my time to Linda’s Legacy, which is geared towards helping the homeless, by helping pack backpacks filled with warm clothes and toiletries. I have also volunteered at a Believe in Tomorrow benefit auction which raised tens of thousands of dollars for children suffering from horrible illnesses and diseases. Over the summer I volunteered with my cousin to host a snowball stand in downtown Ellicott City to raise money for three different charities including Howard County Animal Shelter, Trevor Project, and Ellicott City Partnership youth events. I have been featured on Primitive Beginning’s website modeling the latest spring and fall collection of clothing and accessories. I am also a member of Sea Scouts which is an organization focusing on teaching boating skills, marine heritage, and water safety.   

            I have also achieved 1^st degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do where I learned how to protect myself in bad circumstances. Being a part of Tae Kwon Do also has taught me about some of the most important life lessons including discipline and respect.  

          As the 76^th Queen of the Chesapeake I very much look forward to supporting the Queen’s program and mentoring Princesses from other yacht clubs.
